Well, don’t let it ever be said President Obama’s not consistent at least.
Following years of an administration that seemed tone deaf on public messaging, Obama – who famously referenced an American’s murder by ISIS as he cavalierly headed off to golf – once again took to the links in the very brief aftermath of a human tragedy.
This time, the story focused on the terrorist-style truck attack in Berlin that left at least 12 dead and dozens injured, and in a separate incident, the very public fatal gun-down of a foreign diplomat.
And where was Obama?
“Well, this is what one would call bad political optics,” as Mediaite put it. “With the dual breaking news events surrounding potential terrorism and a foreign diplomat being shot to death, White House pool reports showed that President Barack Obama headed to a country club in Hawaii near his rental house, where he is vacationing.”
Doesn’t the president get the notion that terrorism and death should not fuel a commander-in-chief’s drive to hit the links? At the very least, Obama could act like he cared, or adopt a more dignified leadership behavior.
America knows about Obama’s whereabouts, of course, because of pool press reports that identify his location during emailed notification of the overseas’ tragedies.
“Needless to say,” Mediaite reported, “there will be a lot of negative attention given to Obama playing golf in the immediate aftermath of these horrific and potentially history-altering events.”
Umm, no duh. As there should be. But then again, maybe Barack has just officially checked out. His reign of terror is over, so he might as well get a few more rounds of golf in before’s successfully deposed.
Hope you had a good game, Obama.
