John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and Donald Trump’s recent pick for deputy secretary at the State Department, released a somewhat shocking assessment of the whole Russian-hacked-the-election argument during a talk on Fox News with host Eric Shawn.
What’d he say?
Well, it started as a trickle but after a few hours, picked up hurricane steam. Bolton’s statement was interesting, that’s for sure, and it’s bound to piss off the Democrats, who remain convinced that Donald Trump is to blame.
Check this out:
“Bolton claimed Sunday that hacks during the election season could have been a ‘false flag’ operation, possibly committed by the Obama administration itself,” Politico reported.
Bolton had his reasons for thinking such – and they were based on unanswered questions surrounding the supposed hacks.
He wondered aloud:
“The question has to be asked, why did the Russians run their smart intelligence service against Hillary’s server, but their dumb intelligence service against the election?”
And then Shawn asked as a followup if he was suggesting someone in the president presidential administration set up the false flag.
“We just don’t know,” Bolton said. “But I believe that the intelligence community has been politicized in the Obama administration to a very significant degree.”
Bolton also pointed out to the sloppiness of the hack job, and suggested it was strange to accuse the Russians of perpetrating the crime for the very simple reason they left fingerprints. And he spoke of the Washington Post’s recent story that revealed how members of the intelligence community concluded Russia favored Trump for president.
Then he said this, Politico reported: “Until we know more about how the intelligence community came to this conclusion, we don’t know whether it’s Russian inspired or a false flag.”
