Official: Ben Carson Accepts Position In Trump’s Cabinet, AP Confirms

We knew it was coming but now that it’s official, and now that we’ve seen and heard Ben Carson’s uplifting words, we can really celebrate!

As confirmed by Fox News and Associated Press, President-elect Donald Trump announced today that he has selected former campaign 2016 rival Carson to become Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Trump had some very kind words to say about his new partner, including:

“[He] has a brilliant mind and is passionate about strengthening communities and families within those communities.”

In recent weeks, Carson was on record saying he wasn’t quite sure about the position, but his statement on Monday makes it plain: The retired neurosurgeon is ready to roll and he hopes to “make a significant contribution particularly by strengthening communities that are most in need.”

Further, his Tweets are getting fantastic reactions.

Perhaps most critical were these comments:

“After serious discussions with the Trump transition team, I feel that I can make a significant contribution particularly to making our inner cities great for everyone,” Carson wrote. “We have much work to do in strengthening every aspect of our nation and ensuring that both our physical infrastructure and our spiritual infrastructure is solid. An announcement is forthcoming about my role in helping to make America great again.”

Most Republicans are on board with Carson and are happy to see him team up with the new Trump administration. Other cabinet selections have drawn praise as well but perhaps the appointment of Carson is the single most respected move yet.

Bring on the next four years! The word “progress” might actually start to MEAN something again.
