When I was a kid back in the ’60s and ’70s, Polish jokes were everywhere. We heard them on every street corner.
The older I got and the more Poles I met, I was convinced that someone, somewhere must’ve had a huge grudge against them because the evidence of Polish being a foolish people was dead wrong.
Not only was it cruel and insulting, it didn’t account for the many Poles who immigrated here during the American Revolution and became heroes in their own right, helping the cause of a fledgling nation.
Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Kościuszko was one Pole in particular who caught the attention of General Washington by standing in the saddle of his white horse and riding it in circles inside the encampment.
Kościuszko later distinguished himself in battle against both the Hessian Jaegermeisters and the British.
These days, you don’t have to look far for Polish ingenuity and moxie. And when facing the endless tide of refugees, the Poles have once again distinguished themselves.
They have bucked the trend of European Union nations to accept any and all refugees and immigrants from the Middle East (much to the chagrin of the EU) and have good news to show for their stance.
Via Conservative Tribune:
“From the beginning, Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party has been nearly alone in the European Union in enforcing border controls.
According to the U.K. Independent, party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski recently reaffirmed this stance in a political broadcast posted to YouTube.
‘After recent events connected with acts of terror, (Poland) will not accept refugees because there is no mechanism that would ensure security,’ Kaczynski said, obviously referring to a spate of recent attacks in other EU countries like Sweden and Germany.
How has that policy worked out for Poland?”
As you can see, Poland has had a grand total of zero terrorist attacks on its soil since 2012.
Their policy of no immigration is working and is working marvelously.
No one can deny that when it comes to thwarting Islamic jihadism, Poland happens to be at the top of the heap.
Perhaps we can learn a lesson from them on how best to patrol our own borders.
