The 2016 presidential election will be remembered as one of the biggest political surprises in American history.
Well, given the liberal bent of the mainstream media, we were all led to believe it would be a blowout in favor of the Democratic Party candidate, Hillary Clinton.
It wasn’t until after the election results that everyone started to realize the truth: America was a whole lot more “red” than liberals wanted everyone to believe.
That being said, it was clear that the Clinton Camp was stunned at the election results. They likely bought into their own press, and really believed the U.S. would side with the Democrats, as they’d done for years.
Of course, candidates are privy to voting results before the public, which is why Hillary saw the blow coming well before the moment of truth arrived.
And do you know who called her up the night of the election, and begged her to concede?
Yep. President Barack Obama.
“A new book — “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign” — reveals “the rest of the story” about what went on behind the scenes, that night.
As recounted by The Washington Post, President Obama pressured Clinton to concede — several times.
The first call came from Obama political director, David Simas. Simas told Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, ‘POTUS doesn’t think it’s wise to drag this out.’ — which is precisely what continued to happen.
Obama then called Clinton, reportedly saying: ‘You need to concede.’ He delivered the same message to John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign manager, in a subsequent call.
Clinton finally acquiesced.”
The concession didn’t formally arrive until the following day, but it did happen. That’s when Hillary Clinton spoke the words she’d never thought she’d say: “Congratulations, Donald.”
Later, Obama tried to console her and all Hillary could say was, “Mr. President, I’m sorry.”
We’ll, we’re not sorry at all.
We greatly prefer The Trump Effect, which led to the sharp – and instant – decline in illegal immigration after Trump won the election. Not to mention the soaring economy and stock markets.
So yeah, tough loss, Hillary. But Obama was actually right…you should’ve conceded sooner.
