London is having a rough time.
Terror attacks of all kinds continue to plague England; we all recall the horrific Ariana Grande concert bombing, and the terrible incident on the bridge.
President Donald Trump had the perfect reply to these tragedies and now, another horrible event.
But this time, it’s on the other side of the aisle, and it’s equally disgusting.
According to a breaking news report from the BBC, “a van was used to attack individuals in the area surrounding a mosque in London’s Finsbury Park.”
Thus far, the count is 1 dead and 10 injured and Prime Minister Theresa May has officially condemned the attack, appropriately calling it “sickening.”
Of course, the perpetrator – 47-year-old Darren Osborne from Wales – was targeting Muslims with his attack, as he specifically went after a mosque.
“Witnesses say they saw the van take a sharp left turn as if it was aiming for the crowd of people outside the Muslim Welfare House, which is near the mosque in Finsbury Park.
Police are investigating the situation as an act of terrorism.
CNN notes that the attack feels similar to previous terrorist events in London and that the local Muslim community believes they were specifically targeted.
CNN also notes that the attack took place during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan and the individuals attacked had recently concluded prayers and worship.”
I would note that CNN wasn’t anywhere near as quick to address the attacks carried out by Muslims in London, but let’s put that aside for a moment. We all know the media is absurdly slanted.
For the time being, let’s make one thing abundantly clear:
NOBODY should support this. We get that people are angry, and they have every right to be upset.
But this gets us nowhere and furthermore, it’s hugely hypocritical. You can’t slam certain people for doing terrible things to you, then turn around and do the very same thing to them.
An eye for an eye is not progress, regardless of your political leanings.
Innocents are innocents. And that’s that.
