The U.S.-led coalition in Syria has been making huge strides toward eradicating ISIS from the map.
With pushes toward the city of Raqqa, the U.S. and its allies have kept ISIS at bay and on defense. Al-Nusra forces have been scattered as well.
The emphasis in this operation has always been to push ISIS between a rock and a hard place and that strategy appears to be working.
Reports last week were tentative, but now it appears that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed in an airstrike in Syria. This was a massive victory for the armies of good.
Now, one of his chief clerics, Turki al-Bin’ali, has just met a similar fate.
“U.S.-led coalition forces said they have killed Turki al-Bin’ali, ISIS’ chief cleric, in Syria airstrike last month.
Al-Bin’ali, who called himself ‘Grand Mufti,’ was killed in an airstrike on May 31 in Mayadin, Syria, according to a news release from the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.
The cleric’s main role was recruiting extremists and causing terrorist attacks across the globe. Al-Bin’ali, who has been the terror group’s chief cleric since 2014, supplied propaganda encouraging murder and other atrocious acts.
He tried to legitimize the formation of the so-called ‘caliphate’ and was a close confidant of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the jihadi group.
The cleric’s recruiting efforts for the terrorist organization included many filmed lectures trying to condone and provoke the slaying of innocent people.”
ISIS has lost “several senior figures” in recent years, as the U.S.-led coalition forces have targeted parts of Syria and Iraq.
ISIS is finding it more and more dangerous to remain in areas like Syria and Iraq and has been forcibly moved beyond its gained territory. With the bold moves toward eliminating them as a threat, General Mattis is kicking a** and taking names.
Yes, President Trump has made good on yet another promise. ISIS is on the run, America!
