There’s a very clear difference between the states that voted for Trump this year and those that voted for Hillary.
The large cities and high population states that went blue for the democrat were also the centers of the riotous protests that resulted after Trump’s win. People stormed the streets in these cities, endangering their neighbors and businesses, even though most of them voted for Clinton.
This is indicative of the problems facing predominately liberal-controlled states. The policies that have shaped their cities and suburbs have created a climate that is hostile to many honest, working Americans.
And it turns out, people are leaving these places in droves.
According to economic expert Stephen Moore, writing in the Washington Times, the reasons Americans are fleeing these states are all driven by economics — namely, that they share the progressive values of “high taxes rates; high welfare benefits; heavy regulation; environmental extremism; high minimum wages.”
Here is an amazing statistic. Of the 10 blue states that Hillary Clinton won by the largest percentage margins — California, Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut — every single one of them lost domestic migration (excluding immigration) over the last 10 years (2004-14). Nearly 2.75 million more Americans left California and New York than entered these states.
The toxic, Socialist policies of the left create such massive burdens on honest tax-paying Americans, they many feel they cannot stay in their home state. People are leaving theses areas–areas that have many jobs and opportunities–because the leaders levy them with huge burdens.
Meanwhile crime goes up, welfare increases, and the climate of these cities becomes unbearable. Could it be that in a few more years–if left unchecked–major cities in America will be completely inhospitable? We’re already seeing it in places like Detroit and Baltimore, where businesses flee and government benefits are high.
While Trump will do a great deal to help the working class of America and bring back jobs for even white collar workers, states still have plenty of control over taxes and other factors. Much of American will benefit from Trump’s leadership, but entrenched liberals in New York, California, and Illinois will fight tooth and nail.
Only time will tell how badly they will damage their own people.
