During the powerless and stringently effete years of the Obama White House, saber-rattling became our enemies’ weapon of choice.
In brief, President Barack Obama wasn’t a warrior. Instead, he allowed illegal immigrants to steal billions from hard-working Americans, and then tried to call himself the most “progressive” president ever.
We turned around and dropped the hammer on that outrageous idea, proving that in point of fact, Obama was the LEAST progressive president in the country’s history.
But back to the saber-rattling: In the old days, back when sabers were used primarily by officers as a throwback to the days of “civilized warfare” (where one faced his enemy toe-to-toe, not down the barrel of a gun), there were techniques used to unnerve your enemy.
Saber-rattling, the act of rattling your saber within your scabbard, makes a lot of racket; a very effective way of frightening or disorienting the enemy.
Obama was no warrior, but he was eminently qualified in the art of being unnerved by any upstart despot. When one stepped over a line in the sand, Obama deftly hopped back a step and simply drew another.
This “you’ve-got-one-more-last-chance” national defense posture ended up not only being a complete and abject failure, but it was also leaving behind a hell of a mess for the President-elect.
Now, Trump and his newly confirmed Secretary of Defense, General Mattis, must deal with the effects of the milquetoast-styled national security stance of the former president.
And damage control begins with that scary-ass country known as North Korea:
“In his first overseas visit, U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis both calmed the jitters of South Korea and Japan while putting North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un on notice: The U.S. will not put up with Kim’s madman rhetoric and destabilizing threats of nuclear deployment.
Speaking jointly with South Korean Defense Minister Han Min-koo in Seoul on Friday, Mattis made it clear that the U.S. will stand solidly with allies in the region against North Korean aggression and that no show of force from North Korea will be tolerated, according to Newsmax.
‘America’s commitments to defending our allies and to upholding our extended deterrence guarantees remain ironclad: Any attack on the United States, or our allies, will be defeated, and any use of nuclear weapons would be met with a response that would be effective and overwhelming,’ Mattis said.”
Can you say, “Shock and Awe”?
Yes, we were all very happy when Trump pushed Mattis’ approval through the Pentagon; “Mad Dog” knows where this country stands and no amount of saber-rattling is going to unnerve THIS guy.
The United States does not believe in saber-rattling. Just the hard truth…and raw action.
