As an American, when is it okay to break federal law?
The quick answer is “Never” but you would be wrong. The actual answer is as follows:
“It’s okay to break federal law when you are an elected official, especially a mayor or a governor of a city big enough to flip off the rest of America simply because the threat of fund withholding by the federal government doesn’t mean anything when these law-breaking officials are still being paid and not being thrown in prison.
President Donald Trump has threatened to slash funding for cities that actively break federal law by shielding illegal aliens from deportation but apparently, New York City doesn’t seem to care.
Or at least, Mayor Bill de Blasio doesn’t care.
The liberal mayor made headlines a few weeks back when he said he’d defy Trump’s rules, after which the NYPD came back with a CRUSHING reply. We’re still applauding that response!
Except, the mayor isn’t backing down. Now he’s squaring off against ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
“New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declared Tuesday that his deputies will block U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from entering New York City public schools — even though agency officials say they are not pursuing illegal immigrants in schools.
‘We will not allow ICE agents to threaten that protection, disrupt classes or take any action that would be detrimental to our students,’ de Blasio said at a press conference held outside New York’s Tweed Courthouse Tuesday afternoon.
‘With these updated guidelines, we are reinforcing the fact that a school is a safe and protected location,’ he said, adding that his promise would not apply if ICE got a court order.
STORY CONTINUES BELOW…
‘We think it’s crucial to fight for all New Yorkers and to help immigrant New Yorkers to know their rights,’ declared De Blasio, who is facing reelection in November. ‘This is your city. Your city will stand by you.’
When asked if they have been any incidents of ICE agents detaining any student or their parents at any of the city’s school, de Blasio said no, but emphasized the guidelines as a precautionary measure since ‘there is a strong fear’ of Trump’s immigration enforcement plan.”
See that part about where ICE has zero intention of going into schools? And de Blasio acknowledged it? So what the hell is he raving about?!
He’s a fear-mongerer, plain and simple. De Blasio has gone so far as to call policies in place by the federal government “racist” in order to instill more fear among those who wish to enforce the law as it stands.
Instead, we now have mayors and governors all over this country who have banded together to thwart federal laws and are, so far, getting away with such practices.
Gee, maybe liberals should elect more Muslims to positions of power, even those who have terrorist backgrounds. Yeah, that’ll show Trump!
