Muslims Just Got 2 Words Banned In Europe – Is Political Correctness Out Of Control?

As we’ve witnessed, our universities have allowed themselves to be bullied into abandoning those traditions in the face of special interest groups and political correctness.

One of those traditions under assault is the free expression of ideas and their debate in an environment of intellectual honesty and excellence.

Thus has our society made progress, and the destruction of this tradition bodes ill for intellectual inquiry and and cultural integrity.

We are speaking of the insistence by Muslims that certain topics, and now even words, be removed from the lexicon of our universities.

So insensitive are these people, or perhaps ignorant of the damage they do to our educational institutions, that they have demanded that two words be removed from all Oxford University Press publications.

If you know a bit about the Islam faith, maybe you won’t be surprised at which words are no longer allowed in the Oxford papers.

From Right Wing News:

“‘I’ve got a letter here that was sent out by OUP to an author doing something for young people,’ said TV host Jim Naughtie, whose wife Eleanor Updale is working with Oxford on an educational book series.

Among the things prohibited in the text that was commissioned by OUP was the following: Pigs plus sausages, or anything else which could be perceived as pork.

Oxford Press, however, defended their politically correct move in a statement:

“Many of the educational materials we publish in the UK are sold in more than 150 countries, and as such they need to consider a range of cultural differences and sensitivities.’

“Our editorial guidelines are intended to help ensure that the resources that we produce can be disseminated to the widest possible audience.'”

Translated, what OUP just admitted is that they have caved to Islamic pressure groups thereby substituting political correctness for journalistic integrity.

It’s a stupid rule anyway. What are they supposed to say if someone is doing a piece on Muslim dietary habits?

Write that “Muslims typically find those four-legged animals with the funny, flat snouts to be unclean and therefore will not eat the meat of these animals, the names of which we cannot mention so as not to offend Muslim sensitivities?”

Of course that’s ridiculous, but no more so than OUP caving into to Muslim demands.

Come on, Oxford. Reflect on your centuries-long tradition of intellectual excellence and do the right thing: Rescind this idiotic rule.
