President Obama, in what seems a final-hour, last-ditch, desperate attempt to snag some relevancy before he leaves office this January, has issued an odd statement to the military about incoming Donald Trump.
He made the remarks during a speech before the armed force at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida – what will be his last speech to the U.S. military, no doubt.
But it’s very likely those in attendance let his remarks go in one ear and out the other. Why? Obama’s not exactly a favorite of the U.S. military. And his recommendation was probably met with the same type of attitude one reserves for a know-it-all uncle at the family holiday get-together – that it, nod and smile, while sneaking a glance at the wristwatch.
This is what he said, Breitbart reported: “Obama reminded troops that once Donald J. Trump becomes president, soldiers have a duty to question his authority and criticize him. Obama also said the Second Amendment and global warming can be blamed for terrorism.”
That’s quite a mouthful, isn’t it?
But wait, here’s a bit more.
Again, from Breitbart: “Obama told told troops, ‘each of us has … the universal right to speak your minds and to protest against authority; to live in a society that’s open and free; that can criticize our president without retribution.'”
Really? Because ask any veteran and he or she will probably say: the Uniform Code of Military Justice tells a different story about the duties of soldiers, troops, sailors and Marines.
“The lame duck president also went on to blame terrorism on the Second Amendment and global warming,” Breitbart reported. “In addressing the war-torn Middle East, Obama insisted that global warming forms a large part of that conflict [and said] ‘a changing climate is increasing competition for food and water.'”
Oh, make it stop.
“The presidential short-timer also placed blame on the Constitution’s First Amendment, hinting that he thinks free speech is too freely indulged to prevent ‘impressionable minds’ from being warped by ‘extremism’ on the Internet,” Breitbart said.
Guess Obama knows his time is limited. He feels the need to shove all the propaganda he can into his last days as a commander-in-chief speaker.
