Quick – name the worst thing President Obama has done during his near-two full terms in the White House.
Obamacare? Open borders? Pen-and-cell phone style of governing?
So many to choose from; if you’re like most in the conservative camp, it’s hard to narrow down the list to one. But Allen West, former U.S. Army colonel and Florida congressman, thinks he has the answer, and it’s based on what Obama could do, if he decides to heed the call.
West, on his AllenBWest.com blog, cites the Guardian and writes:
“U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, the former prisoner of war who is accused of endangering comrades by walking off his post in Afghanistan, is asking President Barack Obama to pardon him before leaving office.”
Bergdahl, it seems, doesn’t want to sit and wait for his fate under a Donald Trump administration. Wonder why?
“If granted by Obama, it would allow Bergdahl to avert a military trial scheduled for April 2017,” West wrote.
And among his charges: Desertion and misbehavior before the enemy, the latter of which carries a maximum of life in prison.
West was outraged.
“Here we have a coward, a traitor, a deserter in Bowe Bergdahl, yet to the3 political liberal progressive elitists, he was deemed someone who served with honor and distinction,” West wrote. “And if we awake to hear Bowe Bergdahl has been granted a pardon by Barack Obama, we then know Obama sees nothing wrong with the most despicable and deplorable behavior on the field of combat.”
West wrapped by saying there are others – like U.S. 1st Lt. Clint Lorance of Texas, who faced down enemy threat in the Kandahar Province but was sentenced to 20 years for murder – more worthy of pardon than Bergdahl.
“If Obama wants to pardon a soldier,” West wrote.. “then let it be … Lorance.”
