President Trump is already throwing down the hammer.
First, we got a kick-ass executive order that opened the door to necessary changes to Obamacare, an utterly failed healthcare system that is in desperate need of reform.
Then he made absolutely certain that his big pick for the Pentagon would get through, another YUGE win for an America that desires protection and safety. You know, two things we never felt under Barack Obama.
Now, in order to make more progress, the Trump administration has ripped off another awesome power move…
MEMO TO ALL EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS & AGENCIES: THE BUCK STOPS HERE!
Even though this is a normal procedure associated with the transfer of power from one administration to the next, it seems necessary to actually instruct the government masses to “CEASE AND DESIST ALL REGULATION!” in order to accomplish anything of consequence.
Apparently, the memo that was issued by Chief Priebus to the executive departments and agencies was specifically targeting new regulations that were either pending (had not yet been considered or read) or published, but had not yet reached their effective date.
The first of these regulation freezes (pending) completely stops any of these from being enacted until the administration and its officials have reviewed their content. Simple enough to understand. Any left-over Obama regulations that were waiting on some bureaucrat’s desk were to be, in essence, suspended.
The second of these regulation freezes (published) orders a 60-day delay in enactment of these regulations if their USE BY date has not yet been reached. Again, this makes sense because there might be an argument that, since they were already published, they must be enacted. The 60-day delay gives the new administration a chance to catch up on the Fast & Furious version of Obama legislation-passage in the final days of his term.
“The memo makes an exception for “critical health, safety, financial, or national security matters,” and asks agencies to identify any regulations that can’t be delayed for other reasons.”
This is smart politics for the incoming administration and Trump is already showing that he has, indeed, surrounded himself with capable and knowledgeable people who know their way around Federal Red Tape.
The A,B,Cs of how to assume power after Obama’s tremendously divisive ego was set loose in the halls of the president are quickly being checked off in good fashion, but the tough part still awaits.
Repairing the awful damage to the Federal government, its divisions, departments, agencies, organizations, etc., and setting them back on the path to accepting the reality that they work for us, the People, and not the other way around, is going to be a real horse-pill for government workers to swallow.
In order for there to be progress, we’ll need to first ensure that the government workforce is cut down to a manageable size (and the Trump Team is already on it). It has become extremely obese on the taxpayer dime, with every official with any title having a staff of 3-10 people working for them.
These hundreds of thousands of government workers are not in any way, shape or form creating wealth. They are just stripping the hard-working taxpayer of his/her wealth. The government, after all, is just another redistribution of wealth, when all is said and done.
I like to think that a great place to start is the nearly 100K IRS agents who currently sit on their behinds in that department, eagerly awaiting the next Conservative tax-exempt status application to pass over their desks.
“Let me tell you how it will be…
There’s one for you, nineteen for me!
‘Cause I’m the Taxman! Yeah, I’m the Taxman!
And you’re working for no one, but me!”
