Red, White, and Right

Starbucks Spent Millions Catering To Muslims, Now Look What’s Happening

These days, it’s perfectly acceptable for big businesses to express a particular political ideology–so long as it’s leftism.

For conservatives, if they happen to create or run a company, it’s verboten to take sides in the culture war, or even for members of the company to privately support non-liberal causes.

But leftists are free to express their radical beliefs and chastise their customers for not sharing them.

One company that’s become synonymous with left-wing politics is the coffee joint Starbucks. The self-proclaimed progressive company is always finding new ways to signal their “virtue” and “tolerance.”

But in an amusing and ironic turn, one of the groups they routinely support is now battling against the company for its support of another one of their pet interest groups.

As reported at Mad World News, Starbucks is facing a boycott in Malaysia and Indonesia after after Muslim groups complained about the international coffee chain’s support of gay rights.

Oh my, I wonder which group they’ll side with, considering these are the Left’s two favorite things…?

Malaysian group Perkasa, which campaigns for the rights of ethnic Malay Muslims, said it agreed with calls this week by Muhammadiyah, Indonesia’s second-largest Muslim group, for a boycott of Starbucks over its pro-LGBT stance.

Perkasa also agreed with the Indonesian group’s call to revoke Starbuck’s business license in the two countries.

Amini Amir Abdullah, who heads Perkasa’s Islamic affairs bureau, said Starbucks’ position challenged Malaysia’s constitution, which recognized Islam as the country’s official religion.

Our objection is because they are promoting something that is against the human instinct, against human behaviour and against religion.

That’s why we are against it,” Amini said on Wednesday.

Indonesian Ulema Council, the nation’s top clerical body, has also thrown its support behind the boycott. These Muslim groups’ displeasure with Starbucks stems from a 2103 video of Howard Shultz, the company’s chairman, making pro-LBGT statements.

In the video, Schultz says Starbucks embraces diversity and that “not every decision is an economic decision.

Which they’ve proven time and again, with their endless shilling for leftist causes and indifference to customers who aren’t liberals, and who only want corporations to stay neutral.

Who will leftists side with in this situation I wonder? They’re loathe to ever criticize Islam, despite its obvious hatred of all things LBGT, but now the Muslims they always protect are calling such behavior “against the human instinct.”

If the head of company in the US uttered such a phrase, they’d face an incredible media firestorm and boycotts, which would undoubtedly result in the person being forced out.

Firefox’s CEO was forced out for a small donation he made to support traditional marriage in the fight against Proposition 8 in California. Even though the majority voted the same as him on the issue, the company still kicked him to the curb.

But no matter what Starbucks does in response, they’ll still show themselves to be hypocrites.

They’ve had it both ways for far too long, supporting a group that hates gays, while also claiming to be the allies of gays.

All the while, they’ve criticized conservatives and Christians for merely supporting traditional marriage.

Eventually, left-wing beliefs come crumbling down because of their innate contradictions. This is just one of many examples.
