Even the most virulent opponent of President Trump should agree that the U.S. infrastructure is need of major renovation.
Our electrical grid is aging and failures would would be highly disruptive at least.
Equally concerning, this country has a lot of bridges with structural faults.
This goes on, but the point can be made that infrastructure investment is badly needed, as Trump has been saying since Day One.
Furthermore, after the Obama years, the U.S. economy desperately needed a boost and thus far, the Trump administration has delivered boost after boost. Good news there.
Now, more good news:
One of the first announcements from President Trump’s trip to Saudi Arabia is a partnership between investment firm Blackstone and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which will pour $40 billion into infrastructure projects, mainly in the U.S.
Chalk up another campaign promise being kept.
“Blackstone, co-founded by Trump supporter Stephen Schwarzman, entered a non-binding agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) to move forward with this initiative, The Hill reported.
‘This potential investment reflects our positive views around the ambitious infrastructure initiatives being undertaken in the United States as announced by President Trump,’ PIF managing director Yasir al-Rumayyan said in a statement.”
‘This will create well-paying American jobs and will lay the foundation for stronger long-term economic growth,’ Blackstone president Hamilton James said.”
STORY CONTINUES BELOW…
There are number of other issues that need to be addressed involving our relationship with Saudi Arabia. Not the least of which is the alleged funding of terrorist organizations by the Muslim nation.
And we shouldn’t forget that notorious terrorists have held Saudi passports, so Trump needs to remind the Saudis that it’s in their best interests to attack terrorists (and not shelter them).
Nevertheless, it is encouraging when nations choose to invest in America.
It’s a vote of confidence and it means a lot more than some nice words on a teleprompter. We witnessed eight years of that meaningless nonsense.
The change President Trump is bringing is long overdue, and we couldn’t be more proud!
