Not enough people in this country recognize how incredible the U.S. armed forces really are.
See, many times when the military deploys, it’s more than just soldiers and Marines fighting on the ground, the Navy launching missiles, or the Air Force dropping bombs.
There is the entire array of support organizations and military personnel that make a military deployment like a mobile city, albeit one with exceptionally destructive power.
On the other hand, that same force can be used for relief operations just as easily as it can for making war.
Our brave men and women in uniform not only protect this country, they serve it as well in times of need. They ease our pain and distress by doing their duty.
And with President Donald Trump at the helm, a man who tirelessly and staunchly supports the armed services, it’s no surprise that he used them to prepare for a major natural disaster.
“…President Trump has order the military into action. Only this time it is to use the formidable assets of the Navy and the Marine Corps for relief actions in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
It’s an assignment that no doubt gives those sailors and Marines a great deal of satisfaction.
“President Donald Trump stationed approximately 1,000 marines on two U.S. Navy warships in preparation for Hurricane Irma relief operations in Florida.
The Marines and Sailors will provide logistical and medical support in the wake of the predicted devastation caused by the storm’s high winds, tidal surges, and floods.
“Department of Defense officials stated the Marines and Sailors are assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing.
Assigned to the USS Kearsarge and the USS Iwo Jima, the units are prepared to deliver water purification systems; storage and distribution capabilities; airborne and surface transportation; heavy lift capabilities; damage assessment aerial reconnaissance; and the distribution of medical technicians.”

A Marine Corp officer explains:
“‘We train for this kind of mission. It’s in the DNA of the Marine Expeditionary Unit to rapidly respond to crisis when called upon,’ 26th MEU Executive Officer Lt. Colonel Christopher Timothy said in a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas.
‘Alongside our Navy partners, we stand strong and ready to help those affected by this storm in whatever way we can.’“
So instead of setting up operations in some foreign land to eradicate ISIS or some other group of terrorists, these same assets are being used to set up operations to provide assistance in an area of America.
It’s not an area ravaged by war (fortunately), but still in desperate conditions from a destructive and killer hurricane.
It’s an operation in which all of those sailors and Marines should be justly proud to participate.
And in turn, all Americans should be greatly appreciative.
