Lurking below the political surface is an explosive issue that’s been negligently overlooked in recent years.
And that is the colossal failure of the Veteran’s Affairs agency to take care of our nation’s veterans in their time of need.
The VA has been embroiled in massive scandals across the country, as soldiers have not only been receiving subpar medical care, but at times, no care at all.
Long wait times and plain indifference has seen many needlessly die, and despite calls to reform, little has been done to improve the agency.
But this disastrous agency is about to get a much-needed overhaul. Thanks to President Trump, veterans will no longer be discarded like trash.
As reported at the Daily Caller, 548 Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) employees have been terminated since President Donald Trump took office, indicating that his campaign pledge to clean up “probably the most incompetently run agency in the United States” by relentlessly cleaning house will be kept.
On top of the deluge of firings, another 200 VA employees were suspended and 33 demoted according to new data published by the department as part of VA Secretary David Shulkin’s commitment to greater transparency.
Of those receiving discipline are 22 senior leaders, more than 70 nurses, 14 police officers, and 25 physicians.
Also disciplined were a program analyst dealing with the Government Accountability Office, which audits the department, a public affairs specialist, a chief of police and a chief of surgery.
For some insane reason, many of the lower level jobs, like basic housekeeping and food service workers, were done by felons and sex offenders.
I guess they probably hired them so they could pay them less and save money. Just one of the many corners the VA cut.
One of the best examples of the VA’s deadly failures can be seen a Phoenix branch, where at least 35 veterans died waiting for care. The facility has one of the nation’s lowest ratings at 1 of 5 stars.
“This is ground zero here in Phoenix, Ariz. It is a cesspool. It’s the worst example of VA health care in the United States–period,” said Brandon Coleman, the original whistleblower about problems at the VA in Phoenix.
“After the scandal hit in 2014, money poured into this place like there was no tomorrow. The annual budget was increased more than $100 million per year and yet wait times continue to get worse. Veterans continue to die,” he said.
The VA is so bad that even after all of this was revealed and tons of extra cash doled out, veterans still died. You just can’t make this up.
Obama had promised to do something about this, but he failed at every turn, thanks in large part to the disgusting, Democrat-backed union protecting the VA’s workers, making it near impossible to fire poor performers.
STORY CONTINUES BELOW…
“Just last week we were forced to take back an employee after they were convicted no more than three times for DWI and had served a 60 day jail sentence…
Our accountability processes are clearly broken,” VA Secretary Shulkin said at the White House.
The blood of our veterans is on the hands of the Left. They’ve thrown their lot in with the union protecting the agency from accountability, caring nothing about the mountain of dead lying at their feet.
More important than the care and lives of our veterans is ensuring the donor money continues to flow from this and other unions.
But their hopes are about to be dashed, because Trump is cleaning up this mess.
And no amount of propaganda will be able to convince the American people that his VA reforms aren’t needed.
