Cuba remains a dictatorship, regardless of former president Barack Obama opening up of travel restrictions to that island nation.
Which, by the way, has done the U.S. no favors over the years.
The illegal immigration disaster that has plagued our country for decades has heavy roots in places like Cuba, which is why President Donald Trump is about to take action.
In order to ensure that the United States continues to recognize the severity of the despotism that has taken hold there, the pre-Obama rules must be reinstated and we MUST protect ourselves.
But in order to take this step, Trump will be forced to have run-ins with a few particular Senators who are dead-set against reinstatement of the travel restrictions.
These run-ins will not be with Democrats, either, but with members of his own party.
“President Donald Trump is set to announce a rollback of former President Barack Obama’s policies toward Cuba.
Two sources told TheDC that the development is due to the behind-the-scenes efforts of Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez and Republican Florida Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart.
This information coming from an anti-embargo group, which spoke on the condition of anonymity, was confirmed Sunday by John Kavulich of the nonpartisan U.S. – Cuba Trade and Economic Council.
STORY CONTINUES BELOW…
‘The Trump Administration has been ‘ready’ since February 2017 to announce changes, but issues unrelated to Cuba have intervened,’ Kavulich said.”
Many say this is a necessity and that Trump’s very different policy will treat Cuba correctly: Like the dictatorship it is.
However, there are several Republicans dead-set against the idea, including Arizona Republican Senator Jeff Flake, who introduced a bill to remove all travel restrictions with Cuba. It has 9 Republican cosponsors, too.
Maybe these people don’t care about the Cuban crime wave that crippled Florida back in the early ’80s, or the fact that Cuba oppresses human freedoms on a daily basis.
But Trump cares. And he’s going to do something about it.
