When President Donald Trump put Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, Conservatives around the country cheered.
But that was only the beginning.
Although Republicans now rule both the House and the Senate, it’s critical to have a Conservative foothold in the courts as well, and Trump is now working to make that happen.
Yes, the Senate did in fact have to go nuclear to preserve Gorsuch’s nomination (there are always stumbling blocks on Capitol Hill), but now that he’s there, he could use some help.
The lower federal courts require some appointments as well, and news sources are confirming Trump’s “third wave of judicial appointments.” Unsurprisingly, Conservative judges are tops on his list.
From Fox News:
“Coming out of its first 100 days, the administration aims to build on the successful confirmation of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said the nominees were all ‘chosen for their deep knowledge of the law and their commitment to upholding constitutional principles.‘
Two of the nominees originally were on the list of 21 candidates that the Trump transition team considered for the Supreme Court vacancy left by Antonin Scalia’s death, and ultimately filled by Gorsuch.
They are Justice Joan Larsen of the Michigan Supreme Court, nominated to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati; and Justice David Stras of the Minnesota Supreme Court, nominated to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis.”

Click through the link above to see the full list of nominees, which has already ticked off Democrats. If they lose control of the lower courts as well, they’re going to be at an even bigger disadvantage.
Remember, a president can have a very big impact on both the courts and his legacy by making certain appointments during his tenure. Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton all made over 300 such appointments.
At this time, Trump is looking to fill nearly 130 judicial vacancies and once they’re filled, America should be in a much better place.
The laxity and complete instability of our court system definitely needs to be addressed. We can’t have more Obama cronies blocking orders that are specifically designed to protect this country.
