Woulda’, coulda’, shoulda’, as the common parlance goes on social media.
Obama says that he would have won a third term had he been allowed to do so (kind of surprised that he didn’t just sign an Executive Order saying that he could run!), and Donald Trump has already replied.
Regardless, Obama was speaking to David Axelrod on a podcast recently and told his former Chief Strategist: “I am confident in this vision because I’m confident that if I had run again and articulated it, I think I could’ve mobilized a majority of the American people to rally behind it.”
Looking past the obvious, however, that the main reason that Hillary lost in the first place was exactly BECAUSE Americans didn’t want a third term of Obama’s policies, we move on to the numbers. According to Independent Journal Review (IJR):
“Simon Rosenberg, president of Democratic think tank New Democratic Network, told Daily Mail: ‘The backlash to the Obama presidency was perhaps bigger than any of us really realized.”
And the statistics will really shock the left: 25 of the 50 States (57 if you’re Obama, of course) currently have both a Republican governor and legislature. Compare that to a pitiful 5 States for the Democrats! Additionally, 19 more States have a split legislature and/or governor’s mansion among both Republicans and Democrats.
Shall we add to the fact that the Democrat Party has lost more than 1,000 seats nationwide since 2010 and has been swept to the very edges of the country?
If this trend continues, the Democrats may just have to actually move to foreign lands in order to reconstitute themselves. Sort of like a defeated Voldemort, if you’ll pardon the excessive “Harry Potter” references.
And really, they brought it on themselves. They can blame everyone and everything else, whine and complain about extenuating circumstances, blah blah blah. The Democrats are, and have been, self-destructing for years.
Congrats on a job well done.
