Yogi Berra said it best: “It ain’t over ’till it’s over!”
And Congress has now finally certified that it is, in fact, over.
Trump’s Electoral College win was sealed today when the 115th Congress certified the results of the election. Vice President Joe Biden was on hand to dampen the spirits of a few malcontents in the audience, including Rep. Pramila Mayapal (D-WA) who apparently was shouting (incoherently, no doubt) about:
1. Voter Suppression (for definition, see Philadelphia Chapter of Black Panthers)
2. Russian Interference in Election (for reference to technique, see Obama Administration Interference in PM Netanyahu’s Re-Election), and;
3. Other Factors (see “Crease of his Pants” argument of 2008)
In order for a member of Congress to file an objection to the results of the electors’ ballots, they must have a sponsor in the House and the Senate. Because no such sponsorships ever materialized, all objections were rendered inconsequential. At one point, it took a Democrat to finally ensure that this nonsense was halted.
“Each time, Biden, who was presiding, rapped the gavel and cut them off because they did not have the necessary support for their objection from a U.S. senator.
‘It is over,’ Biden instructed Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., one of several who tried to lodge an objection. The chamber broke out in applause.
Toward the end, several protesters also were escorted out of the House chambers.”
Trump successfully claimed well over the 270 Electoral votes needed for victory, his final tally being 304 to Clinton’s 227 (Trump lost 2 votes in Texas, Clinton lost 4 votes in Washington and 1 in Hawaii).
“Friday’s vote count marked the last chance for Democrats and other anti-Trump forces to disrupt Trump’s election…
…Trump has [taken] some final swipes at Clinton as he prepares for the inauguration.
He tweeted Friday morning, “Hillary and the Dems were never going to beat the PASSION of my voters. They saw what was happening in the last two weeks before the…… and knew they were in big trouble – which is why they cancelled their big fireworks at the last minute. ‘THEY SAW A MOVEMENT LIKE NEVER BEFORE.’”
Not much more you can add to that. Except maybe, another Yogi Berra saying:
“I tell the kids, somebody’s gotta win, somebody’s gotta lose. Just don’t fight about it. Just try to get better.”
Good advice…eh, Democrats?
