There are few national contests as famous as Miss America.
While it’s certainly true that the competition isn’t what it once was, on many levels, it’s still an event that’s interesting to observe, especially for the sake of sociological research.
If you thought that the contest was supposed to find a young woman that’s all around beautiful, talented, and thoughtful, you’d be wrong.
This isn’t your grandpa’s pageant, as it’s become a competition to see who can signal the hardest to radical leftists.
Kowtowing to the liberal judges and toeing the politically correct line are necessary to take home the crown, and it appears the contestants have received that memo.
As reported at the Independent Journal Review, Miss American 2017 was inundated with left-wing politics to an astonishing level this year, as the question-and-answer section of the event became two minutes of Trump hate, reminiscent of Orwell’s 1984.
The judges weren’t afraid to ask overtly political questions, and the contestants seemed well prepared to pander to the judges, as they let loose on the Trump administration and his supporters.
“Last month, a demonstration of neo-Nazis, white supremacists and the KKK in Charlottesville, Va. turned violent and a counterprotester was killed,” judge Jess Cagle said.

“The president said there was shared blame with ‘very fine people’ on both sides. Were there? Tell me yes or no, and explain.”
“I think that the white supremacist issue, it was very obvious that it was a terrorist attack,“ Wood replied.
“And I think that President Donald Trump should have made a statement earlier addressing the fact, and making sure all American feel safe in this country, that is the No. 1 issue right now.”
WOW! How thoughtful and enlightening!
Miss North Dakota Cara Mund was asked about Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris climate accord.
“One hundred ninety-five countries signed the Paris agreement, in which each country sets nonbinding goals to reduce man-made climate change,“ judge Maria Menounos said.
“The U.S. is withdrawing from the agreement, citing negligible environmental effects and negative economic impact. Good decision? Bad decision? Which is it and why?”
“I do believe it’s a bad decision,” Mund responded. “Once we reject that, we take ourselves out of the negotiation table. And that’s something that we really need to keep in mind.
There is evidence that climate change is existing, so whether you believe it or not, we need to be at that table. And I think it’s just a bad decision on behalf of the United States.”
Mund would go on to win the Miss America pageant. No real surprise there.
I get it, I get it. They’re answering these questions on the spot and in the moment, so their incredibly vague and empty responses can’t be held too much against them.
But wow, what a vacuous response to the climate change question. It appears that leftists are so stupid that their logic is only either/or based.
There were plenty other highly political questions thrown at the ladies. Miss New Jersey, Kaitlyn Schoeffel, was asked about her view of the confederate statue controversy.
“A recent poll found slightly over half of Americans favored leaving Confederate statues in place, while others want them removed.
Keep them or get rid of them? What’s your vote and why?” asked judge Tara Lipinski.
“I don’t think that the answer is to get rid of these statues,” Schoeffel responded. “I think the answer is to relocate them into museums.
Because we are truly defined by our country’s history, and I don’t think it’s something that we need to forget.
We need to always remember it and honor our history of America because it truly makes us who we are as Americans. So they should be moved to museums.”
Obviously, every liberal in America was applauding these responses but as usual, leftists forget there are a whole LOT of people out there who hold an opposite point of view.
And you can see that point of view on Twitter, where true Patriots lambasted the Miss America Pageant for its obvious leftist pandering; many swore they’d never watch it again:
#MissAmerica stick with beauty and stay out of politics.

#MissAmerica Very disappointing. Shame on Disney, Miss America for polluting contest with politics. MA is not a government official.

Why is every question on #missuniverse about US Politics/ Trump? This isn’t Miss America and it’s a double edged sword for them to answer

Miss America, you have completely lost me. I’m truly disgusted. There is no room for biased politics in a pageant. @MissAmericaOrg

But who really cares about these meaningless contests, anyway?
There are far more important things to worry about than a contest that has become a shell of its former self, and nothing more than a chance for leftists to pat themselves on the back and display their “tolerance” and self-righteousness.
We have a country that needs saving.
