An interesting and suspicious video was posted to YouTube after Speaker of the House Paul Ryan made a trip to a Texas border town.
Ryan has really been a thorn in the side of conservatives for a while now, as he’s long since discarded any pretense of being a real supporter of the movement.
Since becoming Speaker, he’s largely been a failure. He’s been less than tepid in his support for many of Trump’s policies and carried on with the usual, spineless Republican leadership we’re so used to.
All that aside, his trip to see the consequences of illegal immigration with his own eyes may have triggered a change of heart–maybe.
As reported at Breitbart, in a 30-second video of House Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) visit to the southern border of the United States posted online on Tuesday, Ryan said that border patrol agents “need more tools … to do their jobs effectively” and vows to “get this done this week.”
But the name of the video reads like a Trump campaign slogan: “It’s Time for the Wall” and mentions that there are 1,954 miles of southern border between the United States and Mexico.
“I had the opportunity to travel down to Texas, to go to the Rio Grande Valley; spend time with our border patrol,” Ryan said as an EDM beat plays in the background.
“When you see what they’re up against it really gives you even greater respect for what they do. They clearly need more tools and more support to do their job effectively,” Ryan said.
“That’s why we’re going to get this done this week.”
“It’s time for The [sic] Wall,” the text accompanying the video reads. “That’s why the House voted to fully fund the Trump administration’s request to build it.”
While Ryan didn’t say those words himself, the video is an official one posted to his YouTube page, which indicates everything in the video he supports.
The video also brags about all the immigration measures Congress has passed lately, like withholding grants from sanctuary cities and cracking down on illegals who re-enter the US.
What does this video mean? Who knows.
It’s hard to get a bead on Ryan, as he tiptoes the line between traitor and sort-of teammate all the time.
He’s been very wishy-washy on immigration, so this video could very well be his “John McCain” tactic of acting like a border hawk because it’s convenient….only to turn around and stab us in the back when things get serious.
Or maybe he has finally come around. Regardless, take the video with a massive grain of salt. Results are what ultimately matter, right?
