President Donald Trump never shies away from a fight.
Right out of the gate, he slashed government regulations in one hell of a power move, which left most Americans cheering. That’s merely one example of Trump’s powerful orders in his first few weeks in the Oval Office.
And nobody is going to tell him to respect the media that has never, not ONCE, respected him.
The whole nation saw the sparring match that was called a campaign, and which candidate emerged as winner. And we all know about CNN getting exposed for running a fake news story, which Trump rightly stomped on.
All’s fair in love and war, as they say.
But you know what’s not fair? The mainstream media.
The MSM has been on a decided slant to take out Trump, turning from lapdog to watchdog in near-overnight fashion – a remarkable feat, given the eight years of yawning, stretching and fawning at the feet of Barack Obama, printing as they did all the news that fit his approval.
So Trump’s quite right to call out the lyin’ press…which he just did.
His latest vent? During a listening session for Black History Month. That’s when Trump said he didn’t watch CNN because it was “fake news,” and he didn’t want to waste his life watching said fake news.
He also backed his barb with fact – something, as a quick aside, the news might want to try.
Anyhow, from Breitbart, here’s what Trump pointed to as an example:
“You read all about Dr. Martin Luther King a week ago, when somebody said I took the statue out of my office, and it turned out that that was fake news. The statue is cherished.”
Oh my. What can CNN say to that?
It’s true, that particular news report was indeed in error. The Trump White House did not, as reported, remove the MLK statue; this is just another disgusting example FAKE NEWS that Trump always talks about.
Rather, the reporter simply wasn’t standing in a location that gave a personal view of the statue. But rather than fact-checking, the story was filed. And it didn’t take long for the finger-pointing at Trump as a racists and bigot – “see? See? He removed the statue!” – to fly around the world.
So dishonest press? It certainly seems Trump has a point. And my money’s on the atmosphere of deceit and dishonesty to continue for the next four years.
